We have been learning about measuring the weight of objects. This week we weighed lots of different things, we used a 2 pan balance, scales with a dial as well as digital scales. We learned that there are 1000g in 1Kg. We made a kilogram on the digital scales using apples, potatoes, books and tins of beans.
We decided to weigh our 1kg weights on the digital scales after using our 2 pan balance. We could see that one of the weights was heavier than the other despite both having 1kg printed on them. We learned that when you read a food label and see the letter 'e' beside the weight this means that it is an estimate. Maybe our 1kg weights needed an 'e' beside their labels as well!
