The Cove
Welcome to our Social Communication Room, The Cove! The Cove is a dedicated space where children with social, emotional, or communication challenges can receive extra support. This room is often used for:
BUILDING SOCIAL SKILLS
Teachers or support staff lead activities to help children learn how to interact positively with others, understand social cues, and develop friendships.
SPEECH AND LANGUAGE SUPPORT
For children who struggle with verbal communication, the room may host speech therapy sessions or activities to build expressive and receptive language skills.
EMOTIONAL REGULATION
The room often provides a calm environment where children can learn techniques to manage emotions, reduce anxiety, and improve focus.
PERSONALIZED LEARNING
Staff might use the room to provide one-to-one or small group support for children with specific needs, ensuring they get focused attention in a quieter setting.
Overall, the Cove is a safe and supportive environment aimed at helping children build confidence in social and communicative settings, preparing them to participate more fully in the classroom and school community.
The Cove is our second Special Provision class. It is for pupils from P5-P7 who benefit from a range of supportive strategies. The class teacher is Mrs Fowler and the assistant is Kerry.
